Liberty Franklin GYM 64 Review: American Made Gun Storage

Gun Safe Summary: This large safe includes the safety features you will need to keep your gun collection safe, as well as including some unique features that make organizing your gun collection easier than ever before. The door includes a Deluxe Accessory Door Panel with Cool Pocket and dual LED lights, making it one of the safes made in the USA. The interior also includes two double collector gun racks that can hold up to sixty four guns. The accessory door panel is unique to the Franklin series and praised as a good way to organize guns and devices. The upholstered interior also contains the usually Liberty 4 in 1 flex interior, a signature of the brand. Also includes an electrical outlet kit, if you would like an electrical outlet in your safe. Two LED lights with a motion sensor are included on the inside, to light up your safe when you use it. The lock is electric, but like most Liberty models, a mechanical lock version has been made, even though it’s a little harder to find than the electric model due to less popularity due to a belief that they are not as thief proof as the electric models.

Size and where it fits: The Exterior dimensions are 72.5 inches in height, 42 inches wide, and 32 inches in diameter. The interior dimensions are 68.5 inches in height, 38 inches wide, and 20 inches in diameter. It weighs over a thousand pounds and is a monster of a safe that can hold up to sixty-four guns and will need lots of space so you can operate the safe properly. It is best to put this larger-than-average safe in a cool, dry, place that is free of any danger of fire, or flooding, in order to keep the guns inside safe from any exterior harm. The large safe draws attention to itself, so you need to keep it out of the eyes of potential thieves as well. A basement is recommended, because there the safe will be out of sight, but also reachable for you. It is best to keep the safe away from the eyes of children, as they may see you punch in the code and want to try it for themselves.

What it’s made of: The Liberty Franklin GYM64 64-Gun Safe is built with all the safety features they could muster, including DX-90 Monster Mech door bolts, a thick 11-gage steel body, that includes bigger, longer, and more door bolts than any other Liberty Franklin series safe. The safe has fire protection certified at 60 minutes at up to 1200 degree temperatures, an 83,000 BTU rating, with eleven total layers of fireboard and a Palusol heat-expanding door seal, guaranteed to keep your guns safe during a fire. The door is a one inch composite tough door with inner door steel plate for stronger rigidity against prying. the DX-90 Monster Mech Over-Center cam prevents side bolt punching and wards off potential thieves. Bigger bolts are installed in the Liberty Franklin as opposed to other Liberty models, now at one and one-fourth inch diameter and are two and three-eighths inches long. There are more bolts on all three sides of the door and two on top. The door also includes anti-pry door tabs.

Why this Gun Safe is good: The Liberty Franklin GYM64 Gun Safe is a safe if you want the protection for your large gun collection. First off, it includes accessories to organize the interior and your gun collection, including the Deluxe Accessory Door panel and Cool Pocket, making it easy for you to store and organize even the biggest of gun collections, but also because of the amazing safety features available on this model. The door is larger, thicker, and more thief-resistant than other Liberty models, with even more bolts, and is larger than thicker with more steel plate and stronger rigidity against prying. The door also features anti-pry tabs which are useful against drills and crowbars as well. The fire features are pretty good, but also pretty standard on all Liberty models, which are used to excellence in gun safes. If you want to make sure that everything you want is available, than the Liberty Franklin is a good gun safe for you, with everything you could possibly want in a gun safe. The trade off is that this model is quite expensive, as you pay for quality and things that you know are going to work. This safe is the cheapest you might be able to find, but if you don’t mind shelling out knowing you are getting the best, tried and tested, than it is worth it. Another problem with this safe is that it’s simply so heavy that you will likely be paying over a thousand dollars in shipping. This is when getting cheaper shipping is worth it, such as when you order from Amazon, that offers you deals depending on how much money you spend in your order, or getting Amazon Prime, with which you get free or reduced shipping, depending on your order. It also might be worth it to get Liberty Safe’s Exclusive Gold Service and In-Home Delivery, which is a service that they offer to preferred members. The additional freight service that is charged with the purchase of a Liberty’s safe from the manufacturer pays for the Gold Service and In-Home delivery, with which the safes are shipped via truck and are placed in the first level of the home, though it takes six to eight weeks for delivery, and can only be done in the lower Forty Eight United States, and some restrictions may be applied.

Conclusion: Even if you decide that the Liberty Franklin GYM64 Gun safe isn’t the right model and make for you,  you can still check out their other models. Liberty makes some safes that can be found in any size, and any guarantee and rating. IF you want something smaller, it is more than likely that Liberty has made it, and it will be smaller and cheaper and will fit your lifestyle and gun collection better. Make sure to check each model’s fire safety and anti-theft features before you buy, as you want to see what is most important on your checklist. Before you buy a gun safe, you should shop around and make sure you get the right one for you, as it is a big investment and you have to know you are happy. Look around at the other gun safe information and see if you fall in love with any of the other safes before committing yourself to one. Read all the reviews, list out your pros and cons, and go over the cost versus what you will get out of it, before you find the right one for you. A gun safe is a big, expensive commitment, so you should definitely think long and hard and look over all the models you find before making the right decision for your home and your gun collection.
